About Cathy Bernatt

The Terrain I Walk With Others

I work with leaders, teams, and organizations who are ready to navigate the deeper, often messy terrain of power, conflict, and purpose.

As a Master Certified Coach, professional facilitator, and organizational development consultant, I specialize in Executive, Leadership, Team & Systems Coaching, Power Dynamics, Conflict Transformation, and Organizational Change. My approach is grounded, systemic, and relational—always attuned to what’s trying to emerge beneath the surface.

Whether I’m supporting an executive to find their voice, guiding a team through long-avoided conflict, or facilitating transformation across a global system, I walk beside my clients. Together, we listen for what’s unspoken, track micro-signals, and co-create a path forward that is both wise and pragmatic.

The Fire Beneath My Practice

What fuels my work is the belief that our most powerful insights are already within us—and within the systems we’re part of. They’re simply buried beneath layers of performance, protection, and habituated patterns.

I do this work because I’ve witnessed what becomes possible when people turn inward, tell the truth, and stay present with discomfort. When someone stops bypassing what’s hard and begins to work with it, something shifts. A pattern breaks. A voice emerges. A new possibility takes root.

My practice draws on Process Work, somatic awareness, and decades of cross-cultural experience. But it’s not the methods that matter most—it’s the moment when someone says, “I’ve never said this out loud before...” and something honest and alive enters the room.

The Soul of My Work

For more than forty years, I’ve accompanied leaders, teams, and systems through thresholds of growth and disruption. I’ve coached on mountaintops and in high-rise offices, aboard tall ships and in deep silence. My work has spanned Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa—and my two decades living in Japan profoundly shaped how I listen, lead, and hold complexity.

People often say I bring radical honesty with deep care.

Outside of work, I’m a mover and a maker: hiking, cross-country skiing, cooking for friends, or soaking in the quiet teachings of nature. These moments feed the soul of my work and remind me of what leadership must always return to—presence, humility, and connection.

If you’re ready to lead from a place of awareness, integrity, and embodied power, I’d be honored to walk with you.

Taiko Drumming

The following videos feature Cathy performing Japanese taiko (drumming) with Amanojaku,
an acclaimed all-Japanese ensemble she had long dreamt of joining and was deeply honored to be accepted into.
For Cathy, taiko is more than music—it’s a masterclass in presence, discipline, collaboration,
and the attunement it takes to lead and follow in equal measure.
These are the same skills that she brings into every room as a coach, facilitator and leader.
